Core Exercises That Every Cyclist Needs To Do

I had been cycling for a good year without realising this and once I figured this out and implemented it into my rides, it was a game changer.

I don't want you to miss out on this because it made the world of difference to my training but also to my well being to prevent injury and tension. Minimising muscle tension means less rest days and therefore more days to train and get outdoors!!

Now your core is an essential collection of muscles that enable your body to do a lot of things. In the context of cycling is it probably the most essential, allowing you to have good bike control and stability as well as improve your balance and ensure your weight is distributed correctly. Phew, what a lot of benefits!

"Once I implemented this into my rides,

it was a game changer."

I spent a lot of time feeling so much tension in my shoulder and up

per back after every long ride, and I was convinced it was my frame size being too large for me or my adjustments were wrong. After having my bike setup looked at, and confirmed all what perfect, I figured it had to be something else.

In my early cycling days, what two things I hadn't but together, was my below average balancing ability when road signalling with my arms and inability to cycle without hands. It was only when trying to improve these that I figured it all out: my centre of gravity was completely wrong!

Once I worked on my core, I noticed a considerable difference in he way I held my body on the bike and in my weight disruption. It also made me a much more confident cyclist as I was able to control the bike much better. But best of all - no more back pain!

I can't express how much this practice has helped me in my cycling journey and I hope it benefits you in some way too - hopefully faster than the way I figured it out.

If you want to see my easily implementable workout that you can squeeze into your busy schedule, see my video below.

I would love to hear your stories and if you have found any of the above helpful, let me know in the comments down below.
