How it all started!

The Roots

As a child and walking through rows and rows of beautifully lavish fabrics of all colours, embroidered details and sparkly sequins catching the light; for me was like being in a candy shop, not knowing which to look at first.

My aunts would make these glorious outfits of all fits and styles. It would never fail to amaze me how a rectangle of fabric could turn into something so beautiful.

I had my first sewing machine at 6 years old, where I would play around with stitches, sewing everything I could find (including my mums favourite tablecloth). Other than this however, my sewing journey was fairly sporadic, while being quite crafty making pencil cases out of date boxes.

During my High School years, Had revived my passion during textiles, learning about the planning and research stages, as well as the making processes where I made a kite, a pair of slippers and a run-way catwalk sequinned cape (luckily there was still time to work on my fashion sense).

I got my first proper sewing machine in 2014 once I had finished my studies, from which I dipped in and out of sewing whenever I got inspired to make something, however, it wasn't until the pandemic hit in 2020 when I had no other distractions from my work in the NHS, when I decided I wanted to pursue a professional level of sewing in the form of garments.

And this is when this baby was born.

With the very same sewing machine I bought in 2014, I launched this project. Due to my very busy lifestyle, it meant I found it hard to set time aside for sewing and my other creative projects. Not only has it made me accountable to progress in my sewing journey, but I have met so many great people like you along the way and I love the community we have here!

To see what I’ve been up to, browse my site, learn about my passions, and I hope you find inspiration and fulfilment in the community here.

Happy Sewing!
